Why Snoop Dogg?

Anyone who is familiar with the rapper should know why Atlas Global signs deal with Snoop Dogg. He has long established himself as a cannabis icon.

Calvin Broadus, AKA Snoop Dogg, has signed deals with cannabis companies before. In 2016, he inked a deal with Canadian cannabis producer Tweed. The three-year contract granted the company exclusive rights to use content and brands owned by Snoop’s company, LBD Holdings. Snoop received an undisclosed amount of cash and stock in exchange for allowing the company to use his properties.

He also became the rep for an Israeli cannabis start-up, Seedo in 2019. The company sells fully-automated indoor cannabis growing devices that allow users to grow in a pesticide-free environment. The rapper’s role was to “educate consumers on the environmental benefits and social opportunity of Seedo’s home and commercial grow technology.”

Snoop has also invested in marijuana companies. One of his more notable partnerships was with the company Metrc which operates seed-to-sale tracking systems in 11 states. When the company was seeking to raise $50 million to expand its operations, the rapper chipped in and led the funding round.

The musician was also active in the movement to make marijuana legal on a federal level. He teamed up with Charles Koch and criminal justice reform champion Weldon Angelos to form the Cannabis Freedom Alliance which serves to change the minds of Republican lawmakers who are on the fence or totally against legalizing marijuana. The progress the committee made is unclear but people are still fighting to make cannabis federally legal.

Snoop Dogg also owns more than one cannabis company. Leafs by Snoop was launched in
Denver, CO in 2016 and is distributed in Canada by Canopy Growth Corporation, a major marijuana and hemp producer launched by the rapper along with Martha Stewart.

At the end of the year, Snoop Dogg announced that his record company, Death Row Records, would be launching its own cannabis brand. Death Row Cannabis will be featuring flower as its inaugural product. It will also be selling diamond-infused pre-rolls with iridescent silver packaging and gold accents showcasing a redesigned version of the brand’s prisoner logo with the left hand holding a joint.

If you look at Snoop Dogg’s song collection, you will that weed is one of his favorite lyrical subjects. Favorites include, “Smoke the Weed”, “ Smokin’”, “No Bammer Weed”, “Smoke Weed Everyday” and many more.

“Since I’ve been at the forefront of the movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana,” Snoop has been quoted as saying.
